Environmentally Benign Processes, Products and Materials for Sustainable Ecosystems (EBPPM – 2021)

The Online International Felicitation Conference on was 
organized by the Department of Chemical Engineering on 19.11.2021 on 
the theme of “Environmentally Benign Processes, Products and Materials 
for Sustainable Ecosystems (EBPPM – 2021)” in Honor of Dr. N 
Anantharaman, Retd. Professor (HAG) Dept. of Chemical Engineering, NIT 
Trichy for 2 days (19.11.2021 – 20.11.2021). This inauguration was 
conducted in virtual mode with honorable dignitaries including Dr. 
Mini Shaji Thomas, Director NIT Trichy, Dr. P. Kalaichelvi, Professor 
& Head,Dr. N Anantharaman, (Retd. Professor -HAG), Sri. K S Kasi 
Viswanathan, Managing Director, Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited, 
Erode, Faculty members and students in attendance.

Dr. P. Kalaichelvi formally commenced proceedings by welcoming the 
gathering. Dr. K. M. Meera Sheriffa Begum, Professor, Department of 
Chemical Engineering described the various works done by Dr N 
Anantharaman for Institute and Chemical Engineering department. She 
emphasized the importance of this conference and elaborated the 
plenary and invited lectures by eminent faculty members, Dr. Piran 
Kidambi, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, 
Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA, Dr. Sreenivasan 
Ramaswami, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Dr.S. 
Sundramoorthy, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry, Prof. 
Manish Kumar, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Satyavrata Samavedi, 
Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Mr. Ramasubramanian, Technip 
India Limited, Chennai, Mr. Ganesh Bhadti, President (Operations), 
M/s. Sheshasayee paper mills, Erode and Dr. Lukathuyavan, Universiti 
Teknologi Malaysia on various research works relevant to the 
conference theme. Totally 37 papers were selected for oral 
presentations in 6 sessions. Following this, the faculty, Alumni, 
staff and student of the Department of Chemical Engineering expressed 
their Felicitation of Dr. N. Anantharaman.

The Director of NIT Trichy, Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas, delivered the 
Presidential address. She Lauded Dr. N. Anantharaman’s contributions 
in various capacities and his immediate acceptance for any 
administrative activities, his role as a mentor, teacher, guide to 
student and teaching community as a senior Professor of the Institute.
The Chief guest Sri. K. S. Kasi Viswanathan appreciated Dr N 
Anantharaman’s efforts in teaching and research. He also expressed his 
views on conference topic which is very relevant to the current 
scenario and also explained the necessity of sustainable eco system.

Dr. N. Anantharaman delivered felicitation acceptance speech. He 
recollected the uniqueness of the eminent personalities like yester 
Principals, Directors and senior professors of the Institute learning 
from his interactions. He also emphasized the importance of student 
teacher relationship, mentoring the students. He also stressed the 
importance of student teacher relationships.
The conference ended with thanks notes given by Dr. K. Muthukumar 
Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering.
